The Community Book-making Project goes beyond the creation of books; it's about nurturing creativity, promoting literacy, and empowering underprivileged communities in Kayunga, with a particular focus on youths and adolescent mothers. Established in 2019, this initiative equips these groups with valuable vocational skills in bookmaking through a 3-month course, ensuring sustainability and self-reliance.
To kickstart self-employment and reduce dependency, beneficiaries receive startup kits in the form of loans from our SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative). These kits enable them to establish their bookmaking businesses. Currently, the project has successfully trained 230 beneficiaries from Kayunga District and operates a manufacturing plant located in Kayunga Central, where hands-on training sessions are conducted.
The impact of this project extends far beyond the creation of books; it's about generating income, supporting local businesses, and fostering a sense of self-reliance within our communities. By empowering our youths and adolescent mothers with practical skills and entrepreneurship opportunities, we are contributing to a brighter and more sustainable future for Kayunga.
